CAREER IN ARCHITECTURE

CAREER IN ARCHITECTURE

WHAT IS ARCHITECTURE?

An emerging course which involves one’s creativity and aesthetic sense is rising as a popular career option among students. Those looking for creative and artistic work which involves logical thinking and calculations too can find good career opportunities in architecture.

The course does not entertain any sort of cramming but common sense. Architecture provides much exposure to its students and grooms them at a professional level. The interface between classroom and sight is very narrow and within the course, all aspects of becoming an architect are taken care of.

COLLEGE LIFE:

B. Arch is very demanding and time consuming course, entitling it as one of the most difficult courses. However, this course also opens new horizons of ambition. It engages its students for five years.

The whole 5 year course aims at teaching students two major aspects of architecture , first is architecture itself i.e. how to design and how to implement the design , the second aspect is group work or in other words team management which is very crucial for an architect to learn.

A similar course like architecture is planning. It is closely related to architecture, however it does not involve designing in to it , a planning graduate is called a planner not an architect.

The duration is one year less than architecture. Planning involves analytical planning of cities, landscape, townships, housing projects etc.

FOR ADMISSION:

For admission in an architecture institute entrance exam has to be cleared. Some institutes have exam of their own.

Two major common entrance are conducted nationwide viz. JEE mains B. Arch and NATA (NATIONAL APTITUDE TEST IN ARCHITECTURE). The exam can be taken up by a student of any stream having maths as a core subject. Students who have appeared for board exams of 10+2 level or have passed it can take up the exam.

JEE mains B. Arch exam also known as JEE paper 2 is conducted in April, during or after the board exams and comprises of maths, architecture aptitude and drawing. NATA exam is conducted from April to July and has a different structure. Admission to planning also can be secured by taking JEE mains B. Arch entrance exam. The exam requires regular practice, tricks, and correct guidance to sail through. There are many institutes dedicated to architecture. School of planning and architecture being the foremost and best institute which most student’s eye at. Architecture is not only the science of making buildings; it is also the art of making lifestyles.

LIFE AFTER ARCHITECTUE COLLEGE

After college there are many options left for the students like M. Arch, Job, Own practice, M.B.A etc.

One of the most common question students and parents asks us is placement of colleges. There are very few colleges in the world which are offering on campus placements in architecture , in fact placement is something which is not related to architecture, Take the example of a doctor or a lawyer none of them have placements and nor they can have , similar is the case with an architect.

It’s only the experience and your way of presentation which will make you grow.

IN ARCHIITECTURE BEST COLLEGE MEANS BEST KNOWLEDGE NOT BEST PLACEMENT.
